My Life Organized started out as a simple desktop outliner for Windows, almost six years ago, to evolve as one of the most complete desktop outliners, with the ability to fully integrate with almost all aspects of GTD.

The application is really lightweight, fast and good designed. It has the ability to manage very large database files very fast, and users can install it, or run it directly from a folder, making it easy to work even from a flash drive.

The basic use of the system is pretty simple and straightforward. Users can start by creating new files from predefined templates (GTD and FranklinCovey included) and customize their outlines, according to their needs. Data are saved to MLO database files, which can be easily being transferred or synchronized between computers, or with a cloud service offered by MLO.

There are plenty of properties for each node of the outline, which can be a project (if it contains other items) or a task, contexts are separate entities so they can be assigned to tasks.

There are also more advanced fields available, like time tracking, goals and reminders and custom formatting for each node on-the-fly or by rules settings. One of the greatest powers of this outliners is that you can customize every note with different format or icon, so that you won’t ever lose important items.

Besides the outline, there is also a to-do view, which displays only tasks, and it can be customized by creating different views with custom filters.

Apart from that simple to list things, there are even more functions to help you expand the system: Pocketmod printing, exporting to xml, excel, text or mindmanager formats, recurring tasks, synchronization with Microsoft Outlook, the MLO cloud paid service, remote FTP, LAN, USB or Blackberry.

As for mobile devices, except for the Blackberry version, there is a version available for the iPhone, the Windows PocketPC and an Android version is coming soon.

My life organized comes in three editions for Windows: A light freeware edition lacking some features and allows up to 10 contexts, a standard paid edition ($45.95) which lacks project tracking and Outlook sync, and a professional full version ($59.95).

For personal use the free version will cover your basic needs, and professionals can be benefit from the shareware versions, or the commercial MLO cloud service.
