Gtdagenda

Gtdagenda is another commercial web application which offers a free plan as well, and handles some pretty basic GTD stuff in an original way.

The user interface is fairly designed, using simple elements for faster loading times –even though the server responses in my country while tested it were a bit slow- but there is much information packed on the screens and some hidden functions which are not visible to the user at a first glance.

There are plenty of functions for task management, and the simple screen gives nice visual feedback, gathering useful information. There is a calendar and a context/project list on the sidebar and while the action edit function is pretty straightforward, adding new actions was a bit of a pain to me, since I am used to press enter after entering a new task to be saved, and the application was navigating to the home screen.

There is a nice menu bar at the top with the basic actions, and a useful search box and a rich customize view function for every view, in which the user can create new filters very easily, and have access to them from the main menu bar.

Killer features:

  • Custom filters
  • Checklists to schedule your recurring activities in a weekly, monthly or yearly time frame
  • Ability to send email from the application

Weaknesses:

  • User interface design. While there are plenty of features, they are hidden to new users at first
  • Slow rendering/response times (this might be subjective)
  • No complete help manual

Supported elements: Contexts, projects, actions, calendar entries, recurring due dates, goals, checklists, next actions, priorities.

Supported services: iCal feed, file storage (paid users), Email import/export, xml export, basecamp and Outlook (csv) import, Evernote connect, twitter.

Mobile access: Mobile site, iPhone/iPad and Android (sync for paid users only) app.

Cost: 4 plans from $9 to $99.95/month and a free plan (5 projects, 5 contexts and 3 goals)

Conclusion : While Gtdagenda has the potential and the features to be a great task management application, the lack of a consistent and user friendly user interface, is something which should be considered seriously by the developers since it is a commercial application.

Apart from that, it seemed to me like a complete product, which should cover the needs of an individual as well as a business user.
